Chennai corporation founded by 1688

Not done The article already states "Chennai city is governed by the Greater Chennai Corporation (formerly "Corporation of Madras"), which was established in 1688" - Arjayay (talk) 13:36, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An easy typo: In the etymology section it should clearly say 1639 and not 1939. Arbitrer (talk) 20:51, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 04:22, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article would benefit from a little addition of the Bombardment of Madras (1914) in the history section

In 1914 the German cruiser Emden bombarded the oil tanks in Madras and set them aflame, killing some civilians and damaging structures in the city. The ship got away completely unscathed despite being shelled from shore batteries in Madras. Someone with more Wikipedia expertise could add this as I am inexperienced. SchlachtkreuzerEmden (talk) 15:33, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In the section Demographics, the expression "3lakh" should be changed to "300 thousand" for better comprehension by the general user Marc With (talk) 07:25, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. Thanks. Rasnaboy (talk) 10:39, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Opinion | MEANWHILE : In India's name game, cities are the big losers - The New York Times (nytimes.com) Igrokugrok (talk) 14:20, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Have added a different source which specifies the data, as the renaming was actually done in July 1996. Thanks! Magentic Manifestations (talk) 05:42, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Earwig detects a 95% similarity to CDN, but with the highlighted text being there (far) before 2018, it's likely them copying off here. Skipping that, the next largest is an 18.7% similarity to a "hubert.herald.nl" source, which is unlikely. Plagiarism check pass . 750h+ 09:20, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
